Confidence is essential in a child’s future success, health, and happiness.  For a child to be confident, they need the realistic and positive perception of their abilities. Also, the use of encouraging words to develop the confidence of a child, especially one going through challenges in life. Confident children can deal with frustrations, peer pressure, negative and positive emotions, and other challenges in life.

Show love

Children need to receive affection from adults. This can happen when we avoid shaming them, criticizing them negatively, and appreciating them for the things that they do. Children’s confidence can easily be affected by the way we treat them.

Positive talk

Everyone needs some positive reinforcement in their lives. It is crucial to talk to children and let them know that they can achieve what they put their minds to.

Ask for their opinion

During a conversation with children, you can always ask for their opinion on a certain issue. This will significantly boost their confidence as they will feel valued.

Appreciate their efforts

It is crucial to give praise where it is due.  When they accomplish something or perform in front of a crowd, you should always provide positive feedback. Also, praise their effort if they don’t win in a competition. Always let them know that their effort matters and continuously reassure children that it is fine not to be perfect at everything. Advise them always to practice as this will enable them to become perfect.
